There's this man, more of a boy really, who thinks it is his job to fix her. She doesn't want to be fixed, but this boy, he thinks he can. He thinks he can look into the cracks from where she withered into herself and corroded and he can replace all of the missing foundation. Simple as that, if he loved her, it'd be enough to open her eyes to beautiful, grander things. But the truth is that he can't do anything for her and that his pushing is just pointing out that she's not enough.

She's tired of trying to be something she's not and even at night when he's asleep, and she has her head on his chest, she's counting all the reasons he doesn't think she's good enough with his heartbeats.

He think he can fix her like all the good little boys always do. They come from well-adjusted homes and homes that have been sabotaged by life. They are modern day white knights. They try. They try with all their might to make things work with those broken women.

The thing is....she wants to rescue herself. She wants a reason to fight. Telling her that she isn't enough, or proving that she isn't...that's not doing anyone any good.

It's just proving to her that all of those bad people who have hurt her are right.

So try a little tenderness...and just hold her.
Don't try to fix the broken...love her pieces.

An acquaintance of mine is going through a break-up and he's taking it pretty roughly. That's life. What strikes me is that he is broadcasting all of his emotions onto facebook, including how he tried to open her eyes. "I know a girl. A girl who believes nobody will ever understand the mess inside her head...I tried to open her eyes, to show her the world as I saw it, and she snapped them shut in fear. I never wanted love. I just wanted to save her."

The thing is, no one is going to be saved by someone when they have emotional turmoil. No one is going to get saved---people save themselves. People ultimately make the choice to save themselves. I'm not saying it's a bad thing to want to save people....just that sometimes the pieces are worth it.
